I think you&#039;re onto something here.  I&#039;ve always wondered about why so much hand-wringing goes on within CSR practitioners about language, how to define CSR, what different terms mean.  
There’s a real strategic ambiguity about the term meaning different things to different people (and organisations!), which lends itself to being co-opted by slight shifts in principles, concepts and values. This seems to lead to an endless framing and re-framing of the concept to the point where it becomes a distraction from the main game. It&#039;s easy to become preoccupied with the ongoing struggle of just trying to articulate what CSR is, what it does and it&#039;s value. Nevermind actually trying to implement it.

This ambiguity seems to short circuit a lot of peoples’ understanding of CSR and can act as a good smoke screen for calling CSR business as usual, or ‘what we already do’.]]></description>
